Position: Antenna Technician

Location: Punta Arenas, Chile (On-site with some hybrid flexibility)

Job Description:

- Be able to work with Software Development Engineering to ensure AWS services seamlessly integrate with our implementations.
- Be experienced working in large projects to completion, either as project manager or lead.
- Know how to run a tight, lean, efficient operation. The right candidate will want to measure everything and use data to drive decision. He/she will excel at using metrics, monitoring, and alarming to measure and improve the operational processes and performance of their team and the availability of their system.
- Be cross-disciplinary and accustomed to "working across the organization." This candidate will work with hardware, software and customer organizations across Amazon, translating customer and business requirements into vigente technical solutions.
- Be able to provide hands on facility support where required (e.g. installation of new equipment, decommissioning of equipment, replacement of faulty equipment, internal audits...etc.)
- Be able to manage and coordinate with vendors to resolve any incidents during emergency situations. This may require to physically be dispatched on to site to investigate and resolve the issue.




- The ideal candidate would like to build systems and networks that bring AWS to the edge and regularly take part in deep-dive troubleshooting exercises to drive technical post-mortem discussions and identify the root cause of complex issues.

Basic Qualifications:

- Experience developing satellite communications networks, protocols, digital signal processing, antennas, or automated ground system development and operations
- 2+ years of Linux and networking experience
- 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
- Ability to write and review accurate and complete support procedures, system documentation, and issue tracking entries.
- Ability to solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context.
- Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications:

- An excellent understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including but not limited to Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDUs, and HVACs.
- Data Center or facility experience.
- Vendor management experience
- General knowledge of troubleshooting server hardware issues
- Understanding of maintenance windows/change management procedures
- Scripting skills - Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby, etc.
