Position Purpose The Elementary School is regularly seeking qualified educators who are available to join a roster of substitute teachers who may be called upon when a teacher is absent. Substitute teachers are contacted to work on an as-needed basis when a regular Nido Elementary School classroom teacher is absent. Substitute assignments may be scheduled in advance for planned teacher absences or requested at short notice for unexpected absences.

In emergency situations, substitutes may be contacted the day before or, at times, on the morning of the assignment.

It is important to note that being included in this Substitute Teacher Pool does not guarantee regular employment or a fixed number of hours or days. Assignments are non-continuous and depend entirely on the operational needs of the Elementary School.

Key Responsibilities

- Follow the daily schedule of the teacher being covered, which may include classroom instruction, transitions, recess, lunch supervision, dismissal, among other duties.
- Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Follow the lesson plans and daily schedule provided whenever available.
- If plans are limited due to an unexpected absence, provide a safe and positive learning environment for students.
- Communicate any concerns or significant incidents to the Elementary School Office.
- Interact professionally and respectfully with students, families, and colleagues,



referring parent questions or concerns to the Elementary School Office when needed.
- Follow all school policies and safeguarding expectations.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (teaching credentials or certification preferred).
- Experience working with elementary-aged students.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Proficiency in English.

Working Conditions
- Assignments may range from a single class period to multiple consecutive days.
- Substitute teachers should indicate the grade level(s), subject area(s), or specialist role(s) for which they are most qualified. Assignments will be made based on the substitute's qualifications and experience, as well as the needs of the Elementary School.
- It is expressly noted that inclusion in this substitute teacher roster does not guarantee regular employment or a fixed number of working hours or days, as assignments depend entirely on the operational needs of the Elementary School. Inclusion in the substitute pool does not constitute a permanent or guaranteed workload
