Role Description
This is a part-time remote role for a System Administrator. The System Administrator will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining servers and cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring system stability, performance, and security. Day-to-day tasks include handling user access and permissions, performing regular updates and backups, and resolving technical issues through troubleshooting and technical support. The role also involves documenting processes, collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and helping optimize systems that support open-source projects and community resources.
Qualifications
- Strong Information Technology foundation, including familiarity with operating systems, networks, and cloud environments
- Solid Analytical Skills to diagnose issues, interpret logs, and identify root causes
- Proficiency in Troubleshooting and Technical Support for system, application, and connectivity problems
- Effective Communication skills for collaborating with team members, documenting procedures, and assisting users
- Experience with system administration tools (e.g., Linux/Unix, Windows Server, virtualization, or containerization)
- Understanding of security best practices, backups, and disaster recovery concepts
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage time, and prioritize tasks
- Relevant certification (e.g., CompTIA Server+, Linux+, or equivalent) or practical experience in a similar role is preferred
