Job Description: Industrial Maintenance MechanicPosition Overview
An Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the optimal operation of machinery and mechanical equipment within a manufacturing or industrial facility. This role combines preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency .
Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & Repair
- Complete preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance throughout the facility
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production machinery
- Install, maintain, test, evaluate, and repair various components and systems including:
- Conveyors (belt, roller, screw)
- Pumps (vertical and centrifugal)
- Motors, gearboxes, and bearings
- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Belt and chain drives
- Dismantle, rebuild, and function-test machinery to verify reliability
- Troubleshoot electrical systems including motor controls, drives, and PLCs
Documentation & Compliance
- Document all completed work and conditions found using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Read and interpret mechanical/electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Understand and adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including lock-out/tag-out (LOTO)
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Additional Duties
- Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, aerial work platforms,
and other mobile equipment
- Perform welding, fabrication, and pipe fitting as needed
- Support plant start-up/shutdown procedures for critical utilities
- Collaborate with production teams to optimize equipment changeovers and performance
Required QualificationsExperience & Education
- 1–5+ years of industrial maintenance experience (varies by employer)
- High school diploma or GED
- Technical school training or associate's degree is often preferred
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems
- Ability to read schematics and blueprints
- Basic computer skills for documentation and parts lookups
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and rigging equipment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Capability to bend, kneel, climb, crawl, and twist
- Work in varied conditions including heat, cold, dust, and loud noise
- Comfort working in elevated areas (4 feet and above) and confined spaces
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP or CMMS systems
- Welding certification
- Predictive and precision maintenance certifications
- Certified Maintenance Reliability Technician (CMRT) certification
- Experience with high-speed production equipment
- Knowledge of precision maintenance practices
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $459,034 - $1,238,420 per month
