Job Description: Mechanical Technician

A Mechanical Technician is a hands-on professional responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of operations across various industries, including mining, manufacturing, energy, and facilities management .

Key Responsibilities

The core duties of a Mechanical Technician typically include:

- Maintenance and Repair: Performing planned, preventative, and breakdown maintenance on a variety of mechanical systems and equipment. This includes diagnosing faults, conducting inspections, and executing component change-outs and repairs according to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards . Common equipment includes pumps, engines, motors, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and heavy mobile equipment .
- Installation and Commissioning: Assisting with the installation, modification, and commissioning of new or existing mechanical equipment and systems. This involves interpreting technical diagrams, schematics, and operation manuals .
- Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Using precision measuring instruments, diagnostic tools, and technical knowledge to identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues . This includes observing equipment in operation and listening for irregularities to locate the source of problems .
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and equipment conditions . A strong commitment to safety standards, such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and other HSE regulations, is mandatory .
- Continuous Improvement: Supporting continuous improvement initiatives by identifying equipment defects, contributing to reliability improvements, and recommending changes to optimize performance and reduce downtime .





Required Skills and Qualifications

The adecuado candidate for a Mechanical Technician position typically possesses:

- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is often required, supplemented by a technical degree, certificate, or diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Diesel Mechanics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field .
- Experience: Proven experience in a maintenance role within a relevant industrial, manufacturing, or mining environment. Entry-level positions may be available, while more senior roles often require 5+ years of experience .
- Technical Skills:
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagnostic skills .
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and OEM manuals .
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments .
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) like SAP is often preferred .

- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required .

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $439,649 - $1,151,979 per month
