DreamEdu International Chile, a private education consultancy that guides Chilean students through overseas university applications, test preparation, and scholarship matching, is looking for a Software Engineer to build and enhance the digital platforms that power our counseling services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain web‑based applications (portal, CRM, test‑prep tools) using modern frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue) and back‑end technologies (Node.js, Python, Ruby, Java).
- Implement RESTful APIs and integrate third‑party services such as payment gateways, video‑meeting APIs, and educational data providers.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and counseling staff to translate business requirements into technical specifications and user‑friendly features.
- Write clean, test‑driven code; develop automated unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests to ensure reliability and maintainability.
- Optimize application performance, security, and scalability to support growing user traffic from students and partner institutions.
- Participate in code reviews, contribute to the team’s best‑practice standards, and mentor junior developers.
- Monitor production systems, troubleshoot incidents, and implement continuous‑integration/continuous‑deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions that improve the student‑experience workflow.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- 2 – 4 years of professional software development experience, preferably in SaaS, education‑tech, or consultancy environments.
- Proficiency in front‑end (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript) and back‑end languages (Node.js, Python, Java, or Ruby).
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL stores (MongoDB, DynamoDB).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and in a cross‑functional team.
- Excellent communication in Spanish and English; capable of translating technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Passion for education and helping students achieve integral academic goals.
Compensation
- Hourly rate: CLP 1,600 – CLP 3,400, commensurate with experience and skill set.
