Position Overview

We are seeking a technically skilled and environmentally conscious Mechanical Engineer to support the design, operation, maintenance, and optimization of mechanical systems and equipment used in sustainable aquaculture and environmental projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with environmental specialists, project managers, technicians, suppliers, and community partners to ensure mechanical systems operate safely, efficiently, reliably, and in accordance with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, evaluate, and improve mechanical systems and equipment for environmental and aquaculture projects.
- Conduct mechanical calculations, technical assessments, and equipment evaluations.
- Support the selection and specification of pumps, motors, piping systems, filtration equipment, and other mechanical components.
- Develop and review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and equipment documentation.
- Monitor installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems.
- Conduct inspections and identify mechanical defects, performance issues, and maintenance requirements.
- Develop preventive and corrective maintenance plans.
- Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Evaluate equipment efficiency, reliability, operating costs, and environmental impact.
- Coordinate with contractors, technicians, suppliers, and engineering partners.
- Assist with procurement and technical evaluation of mechanical equipment and services.
- Prepare technical reports, maintenance records,



project documentation, and recommendations.
- Ensure mechanical work complies with applicable Chilean safety, environmental, and engineering requirements.
- Support projects involving sustainable aquaculture systems and coastal environmental infrastructure.
- Identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption, water usage, waste, and maintenance costs.
- Participate in field inspections and project activities at coastal or aquaculture sites.
- Provide technical guidance to project teams and operational personnel.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and environmentally responsible engineering practices.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional engineering qualification or registration applicable in Chile.
- 2–5 years of relevant mechanical-engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, equipment, maintenance, and engineering principles.
- Experience with mechanical design, technical calculations, and equipment selection.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or comparable engineering-design software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of mechanical safety practices and maintenance procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to participate in field-based engineering activities when required.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in aquaculture, water treatment,



marine engineering, environmental infrastructure, fisheries, or industrial systems.
- Experience with pumps, filtration systems, water circulation, piping, motors, compressors, or related equipment.
- Knowledge of sustainable aquaculture technologies and environmental engineering practices.
- Experience designing or maintaining systems exposed to marine or coastal environments.
- Familiarity with energy-efficient mechanical systems and renewable-energy applications.
- Knowledge of Chilean environmental, occupational-safety, and engineering regulations.
- Experience with preventive-maintenance software or computerized maintenance-management systems.
- Familiarity with engineering standards and quality-management procedures.
- Experience working with non-profit organizations, environmental projects, research institutions, or community-based initiatives is an advantage.
- Strong English communication skills are a plus for international environmental partnerships.
