History of School
Nido was founded in 1934 by Waldo and Juanita Stevenson, passionate educators who believed that students learn best in a supportive and diverse community where the educational program is intentionally designed to nurture the child and is structured to be social, hands-on, innovative, guided by nature, and grounded in community action. To this day, these founding principles shape the School’s core program and make Nido a unique school in Chile.

We were drawn to Nido mainly because of the school’s academic excellence, outstanding teaching staff, significant emphasis on the Arts, and the comprehensive college counseling program. Additionally, we’ve been so pleasantly surprised by the inclusive and supportive environment at Nido; there is a place and a space for everyone here. Nido has always been culturally diverse, and the school’s Endowment provides financial aid (for families unable to cover the full cost of tuition) as well as funding for programs such as the Nido Scholars that further promote socio-economic diversity. Our children are thriving at Nido. The school’s holistic approach to education is led by world-class educators that work with their students to achieve common goals.
