We are looking for a Senior Specialist – Forest Fire Management, Technology & Innovation to lead the development of research, innovation, technology, systems, and Fire Management solutions to support the improvement of Integrated Fire Management (IFM) implementation, covering Fire Prevention, Fire Readiness, Early Detection, and Rapid Response.
This role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, developing, and applying technology-based, data-driven, analytical, and international best-practice solutions to enhance the organization's ability to prevent, detect, and respond to forest and land fires, while protecting company assets and supporting business sustainability.
The successful Senior Specialist – Forest Fire Management, Technology & Innovation will be based in Jakarta, Indonesia with high mobility to Regions, Groups, Districts and Operational Areas.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Development: Support the development of the company’s long-term Fire Management strategy by identifying general best practices, emerging trends and opportunities for improved IFM effectiveness.
2. Research & Innovation: Lead research, benchmarking and innovation initiatives to identify and evaluate new approaches and technologies that can advance wildfire prevention, detection, control and response.
3. Fire Technology Development: Assess and develop advanced fire monitoring, detection, firefighting and digital technologies, including drones, AI, IoT, sensors and Fire Command Centre systems.
4. Fire Analytics & Decision Support: Use fire data,
predictive analytics and intelligence systems to improve risk assessment, early warning and data-driven Fire Management decision-making.
5. Aviation & Specialized Fire Technology: Develop and evaluate aerial firefighting strategies, technologies, vendors and operations, including helicopters, water bombing and other specialized fire response capabilities.
6. Organizational Development Support: Strengthen Fire Management capabilities through improved standards, methodologies, technology competencies, innovation and knowledge sharing across the organization.
The ideal candidate is a professional who can integrate Fire Management Forestry Operations Technology GIS & Remote Sensing Data & Analytics Innovation and translate technological developments into practical solutions that can be applied to enhance the effectiveness of fire prevention, preparedness, early detection, and firefighting in plantation and forest areas.
Minimum Requirements:
- Relevant degree (Bachelors/Masters/Doctoral) in Forestry, Forest Fire Management, Forestry Management, GIS / Geospatial Science, Remote Sensing etc.
- At least 10 years of professional experience in Forestry
- At least 5 years as a Senior Technical Specialist, Subject Matter Expert, Project Lead, or managerial role
- Must be fluent in English
- Experience in some of the following areas:
Forest & Land Fire Management / Forestry Operations / Peatland Management / GIS & Remote Sensing / Fire Prevention Programs / Fire Readiness Programs / Fire Detection Systems / Fire Analytics / Emergency Management / Environmental Management / Technology Development / Innovation Programs / Fire Monitoring Technology / Command Centre Operations
- Preferred Certifications: Incident Command System (ICS) / GIS Professional Certification / Project Management Professional (PMP) / Drone Pilot Certification / Remote Sensing Certification / Fire Management Certification / Data Analytics Certification
Required Technical Skills:
