Organizational context: The Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (RLC) leads FAO's regional response to priorities in food security, agriculture, and rural development. It plans and implements FAO's priority activities, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach and identifying key action areas. RLC collaborates with Headquarters to develop and oversee strategic responses, advises on integrating regional priorities into the Programme of Work and Budget, and monitors programme implementation. The office also fosters regional policy dialogue, partnerships, capacity development, and resource mobilization.
Job purpose: The Human Resources Assistant provides essential support for human resources transactions, performing a variety of routine functions. This role involves assisting in the application of HR policies, rules, and procedures, thereby contributing to sound human resources practices within the organization. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Human Resources Officer and Associate, exercising independence in routine matters.



The position requires interaction with colleagues and clients to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of human resources services, impacting the overall output of the work unit.
Responsibilities: The Human Resources Assistant will review and respond to standard HR requests, inquiries, and claims, providing information from office files and databases. Responsibilities include assembling and reviewing documentation for HR actions such as recruitment, staffing, and staff development. The role involves assisting in the recruitment process, including preparing vacancy announcements and communicating with applicants. Additionally, the assistant will help organize talent management programs, maintain personnel and position files, and ensure confidentiality. Compiling and archiving HR statistical data, drafting routine correspondence, preparing administrative reports, and taking meeting notes are also key functions.
