The Role
This is a split Band 7 post, comprising 0.5 WTE as a rotational clinical pharmacist and 0.5 WTE supporting HEPMA.
Based at University Hospital Monklands.
To support the development, delivery and management of ongoing implementation and maintenance of the clinical aspects of HEPMA.
To support the ongoing research, development and evaluation of HEPMA.
Additional Information Specific To The Role
The HEPMA team supports clinicians in all three Lanarkshire acute hospitals (University Hospitals Wishaw, Monklands, and Hairmyres) and the off-site beds in NHS Lanarkshire.
Electronic Prescribing
The post holder is responsible for supporting the completion of roll out to remaining specialist areas including maternity, paediatrics and outpatients.
Subsequent Maintenance Of HEPMA Across NHS Lanarkshire Hospitals Including
Working with other members of the HEPMA team to provide training, ongoing system maintenance and analysis of HEPMA data.
Undertaking research and complex audits to evaluate benefits realisation on an ongoing basis.
Participation in the HEPMA on-call rota.
To support HEPMA systems to develop practice




To support the evaluation of the contribution of electronic prescribing to patient care.
To support the development, delivery and management of the implementation and maintenance of the clinical aspects of HEPMA.
To support the ongoing research, development and evaluation of HEPMA.
Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months.
Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment.
The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
In This Key Role, You Will
To deliver patient-centred specialist pharmaceutical care to patients in specified clinical area(s).
To communicate effectively, placing the person at the centre of any interaction.
To deliver patient education to ensure the safe and effective use of medications and devices.
To collaborate with the wider pharmacy and multidisciplinary team; actively participating in consultant ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings.
To deliver specialist clinical care to patients by assessment of their pharmaceutical care needs and developing and actioning a care plan.
To carry out consultations with patients in pharmacist-led clinics and in ward, prescribing where appropriate.
What You'll Bring
Masters of Pharmacy Degree
Registered member of General Pharmaceutical Council




Independent prescribing qualification or must work towards
Evidence of postgraduate training and professional development in clinical pharmacy practice e.g. Post Registration Foundation Framework/ 1st year clinical diploma
