Lanarkshire laboratory staff are allocated a base at either Monklands, Wishaw or Hairmyres laboratories, however, these are Lanarkshire posts and as such individuals may be asked to work at a site that is not your base.

The Role
- Process a broad range of specialist and routine laboratory diagnostic investigations in Biochemistry using a range of scientific measurements and technical procedures on patient samples.
- Provides advice to clinicians and other healthcare staff as to appropriateness of tests and time-scales.
- Responsible for own work and uses specialist training to operate complex equipment and solve problems.
- Acts as a mentor to less experienced Biomedical Scientists and participates in training /supervision of Trainee Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants.
The working pattern for this role is Various Shifts - Backshifts, Nightshift and Weekends
Applicants who do not meet the essential criteria will be considered under the Annex 21 training programme, where whilst undergoing training, they will be paid a % of the top of Band 6 and on completion of training will then move on to Band 6 scale.
