As a key member of Korn Ferry’s Mining/Industrial Practice based out of Santiago, Chile, the Managing Associate acts as a trusted advisor within its retained executive search business. Search projects are mainly in the Mining/Industrial space but can vary. This role sits within our Professional Retained Search division.

Korn Ferry is now looking for an experienced search professional, skilled in driving the entire search execution process from client briefing to candidate development and from reference checks to offer negotiation ending in successful placement.

The Managing

Associate operates independently yet functions well in teams; balances drive and initiative with good judgment; communicates effectively with candidates and clients; and delivers results with strong ethics and integrity.

The Managing

Associate is seen by clients and candidates as an extension of the Senior Client Partner and therefore acts as a visible member of the pitch team – bringing a wealth of expertise and detailed functional or industry experience and deep networks to the discussion. While (s)he is not responsible for business development, the Managing Associate, provides leads to Senior Client Partners on potential new business, serves as a resource in the development of business, and enhances current client relationships.

Brought in by the Senior Client Partner, the Managing Associate oversees search projects from beginning to end, often assisted on early-stage execution (desk research and telephone screening) by a Research Associate. The Managing Associate independently interviews and assesses candidates and writes high-quality candidate and reference reports.

(S)he is known as the go-to person for knowledge on talent and market development in the core sector or function.

Besides search execution, the Managing Associate plays a crucial role in advancing best practice for the firm by improving standards, quality and associate pool development through mentoring, training, masterclasses and on-boarding programs. The Managing Director also acts a bridge and sounding board to the Office Managing Director, Senior Clients Partners, Principals and the EMEA Head of Research.

(S)he will oversee the following topics:

- Generating go-to-market strategy, including industry, company and candidate ideas, in co-operation with the practice’s Senior Client Partner;
- Setting assessments against client requirements and competencies;
- Analyzing and presenting Korn Ferry’s Four Dimensional Executive Assessment results for presented candidates;
- Conducting and guiding on thorough research to navigate key companies and build accurate, encompassing lists of candidates accurately reflecting client profile;
- Independently conducting face-to-face interviews with candidates, checking professional and personal fit with the role;
- Conducting courtesy interviews with relevant job seekers to help develop and broaden the practice’s network;
- Participating actively or taking the lead in project kick off meetings as well as project update/progress calls;
- Preparing, writing and presenting client facing documentation, such as search progress reports, candidate appraisals and reference reports;
- Developing and maintaining client relationships that provide repeat business;
- Providing cross-selling ideas for broader Korn Ferry solutions;
- Providing local training and coaching as and when required and recognized as a “go to” person regarding everyday issues, like how to handle candidate objections/source calls/reference requests etc.;
- Taking an active involvement in coaching/mentoring other associates in the local office including induction of new joiners;
- Participating in cross-border mentorship and EMEA promotion programs;
- Balancing deadlines and deliverables for multiple searches at one time;
- Maintaining data quality and accuracy on the company’s internal database.

Also monitoring others’ database input and ensuring them the importance of an up-to-date database with high-quality notes and status.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will need to bring the following experience and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master's degree
- 5+years of relevant experience in the field of human resources, search or consultancy;
- Experience in active candidate identification and sourcing or comparable research experience;
- Ability to hold constructive and engaging face-to-face interviews with candidates and checking their fit against the requirements for the role probing on leadership style, relevant work experience and gap analysis;
- Writing solid candidate and reference reports;
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships at candidate and client level;
- Willingness and ability to take on typical Managing Associate tasks, like associate recruitment, on boarding, mentoring, training and EMEA associate promotions;
- Knowing “what good looks like” and promoting best practice by increasing quality and standards;
- Hands-on mentality with high sense of urgency and comfortable to work under pressure;
- Creative and commercial;
- Extensive interest in broad spectrum of subjects;
- Involved broadly across the firm (cross-border / cross-practice searches or other lines of business);
- Excellent analytical and time management skills;
- Commitment and focus;
- Confident and self-motivated, dynamic, able to take direction, and viewed as an individual who can advance within the firm;
- Articulate, cogent verbal communication skills and strong written communication skills;
- Fluent in English, both oral and in writing. Portuguese is preferred.
