Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.

Job Summary:

This role will be responsible for preparing, compiling, and maintaining the technical documentation and drawings supporting the acquisition of environmental and sector-specific permits for the project. The role aligns information generated by the engineering disciplines with the authorities’ formal requirements so that each application is submitted complete, traceable, and consistent with the current design. The position serves as a control point between the engineering team, the environmental team, and regulatory agencies. Performance is measured by the quality of permit application documentation, adherence to committed deadlines, and the absence of avoidable comments during the permitting process.

- To keep the record of versions of each file, so that it is always possible to identify which antecedent was presented and on what date.

Plans and cartography

- Verify that the symbology, scales, coordinate system and bullets comply with the project standard and the format required by the authority.
- Incorporate base mapping, environmental layers and territorial restrictions using GIS tools in the plans that accompany the applications.

Quality and traceability

- Apply the project document control procedures: coding, review, approval, issuance and archiving of each deliverable.
- Ensure that any antecedent submitted to the authority has traceable support to an approved engineering document.

Education and Experience Requirements:

- Requires a Technical or professional degree in technical drawing, geomensing, civil construction or engineering, Architecture, with complementary training in environmental matters and between 3 and 5 years in engineering or construction projects, with direct participation in the preparation of permit files.
- Requires regulatory knowledge: Environmental Impact Assessment System, sectoral environmental permits and construction permits; formats and deadlines for submission to the competent bodies
- Experience in mining or heavy industry projects and familiarity with international engineering standards (Preferred)

Required Knowledge and Skills:

- AutoCAD or Civil 3D, GIS tools (QGIS or ArcGIS), advanced spreadsheet skills, and document control platforms.
- Native Spanish and technical English reading proficiency for project documentation.
- Available for site visits and to work toward permitting milestones with fixed statutory deadlines.

descriptive reports, and appendices. (Advanced)

- Interdisciplinary Coordination: Clearly requests information from other disciplines and follows through on agreed commitments. (Intermediate)
- Written Communication: Writes precise technical documents using the formal language required by the authority (Intermediate)
- Environmental Judgment: Understands the intent of regulatory requirements, not just the submission format. (Intermediate)
