Background:

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

The UN Women office in Chile, within the framework of its Strategic Note, provides technical assistance in priority areas such as women's political participation and leadership, economic empowerment, the eradication of violence against women and girls, women, peace and security and the mainstreaming of the gender approach in public policies. It also implements programmatic initiatives and contributes to the work of the United Nations System in the country, promoting the cross-cutting integration of gender equality in its interventions and ensuring that these commitments are translated into concrete actions at the national level.

Chile leads the country office in taking responsibility for planning, implementing, and managing UN Women interventions in Chile. T he Country Programme Coordinator works in close collaboration with the programme and operations team at the regional office, UN Women HQ staff, Government officials, multi and bi-lateral donors and civil society ensuring successful UN Women programme implementation under portfolio.

Key Functions and Accountabilities:

• Lead the Chile country programme
• Develop, implement, and monitor the country programme annual workplan and individual programme workplans, including budget and results framework;
• Manage delivery of the day-to-day programme activities to ensure prompt and adequate delivery of results;
• Ensure effective use of resources and compliance with UN Women rules, policies, and procedures as well as donor/fund requirements;
