NHS Lanarkshire is comprised of Acute Services (which currently provide hospital based services over 3 main sites), Corporate & Property & Support Services, North and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnerships which provide integrated primary healthcare and social care services to local communities and surrounding areas.

The Role

In this role, the Specialist Radiographer will justify/authorise and perform Radiographic examinations,



providing direct care and a high quality diagnostic imaging service for the management of patients referred from clinicians and other referrers in NHS Lanarkshire. You will also Supervise Radiographers and SHCSW ensuring continuity of service delivery.

This post requires training in either cardiac catheterisation labs, or interventional radiology labs. Shifts will be over 7 days to provide a 24/7 service to these specialties.

In This Key Role, You Will
- Act independently in the assessment of referrals for x-ray examinations, taking full responsibility for the authorisation of general x-ray examinations in order to reduce unnecessary ionising radiation exposure of patients in accordance with IR(ME)R.
- Supervise Radiographers, Assistant Practitioners and SHCSW
- Be actively involved in the implementation of radiographic procedures.
- Assess patient condition whether that be physically, mentally and/or emotionally prior to and during each examination in order to provide the best possible image
