Project Overview:

Mining and Metals:

Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Control Systems and Instrumentation (CS&I;) Designer for the Mining & Metals team, based in Chile. The position will be responsible for report to the CS&I; Group Supervisor (EGS), who is responsible for the overall engineering performed by the CS&I; discipline.

Major Responsibilities:

- Knowing applicable industry standards and codes, accepted design practices, and quality standards.
- Developing Instrument Location Plans, Area Layouts,



and General Arrangements.
- Developing Control Room Layouts and assists with Electrical Substation Layout Drawings.
- Developing Wiring Diagrams, Loop Drawing, Instrument installation Details (hook-ups).
- Developing Cable Block Diagrams, Cable Schedule, Cable Routing & Tray Route Layout, Termination Drawing, Control & network patch panels drawings.
- Developing Telecom Drawings: Telecom/IT infrastructure & Architecture drawings, Structured Cable System (SCS) Drawings, Network Topology Diagrams, Fibre Optic Network Drawings.
- Supporting the preparation MTO and the development of Material Requisition of Instrumentation for Cables, Conduits, and Instrumentation Bulks.

Education and Experience Requirements:

- Requires bachelor’s in engineering or related field, instrument / electrical trade qualification and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as MicroStation (preferred), or AutoCAD.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

- Experience using Smart Plant 3D, SmartPlant Instrumentation, Navisworks, AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Skilled in reading P&IDs.;
- Skilled in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.
- Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to designs.
- Experience using Engineering Design Systems like SmartPlant or Aveva is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of American industry standards and codes like NEC and ISA is desirable.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills,



with the ability to interpret technical data and specifications.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
