Job Description Assistant Manager,
Technical Pumps is accountable for planning and execution during installation and operations of MD and slurry products.
This role ensures proper care of the installed base and growth of Metso Mill Discharge (MD) and slurry pumps through on-site presence, providing solutions to reinforce a world-class advisory.
The position requires strong communication skills with all organizational levels of the customer, influencing decisions to maximize Metso's position in the plants.
The role involves creating strategies and tactical actions to increase MD and slurry product sales in greenfield and brownfield projects.
Main Responsibilities Become the first regional contact point for the field slurry business. Implement on-site strategies to position MD Pumps as the number one in mill discharge and other applications. Plan, execute, and provide technical advisory for slurry pump installations, especially MD Pumps. Participate in daily coordination meetings with end-users. Develop, implement, and update technical procedures and instructions for standard on-site installation, emphasizing constructability and maintainability.
Serve as the reference advisor for plant maintenance, reliability, and operations teams. Ensure all activities comply with HSEC standards and policies. Develop and implement business plans to meet financial and growth targets. Work with procurement and manufacturing to maintain appropriate inventory levels for MD products. Provide training to effectively sell pumps and dislodge competitors in the comminution process. Monitor market activity and develop strategies to counteract competitors' efforts. Assist in developing support plans for key accounts. Conduct equipment surveys and analyze pumps and pipeline systems at customer sites. Recommend spare parts and manage inventory levels. Supervise pump trials and large MD project installations. Evaluate pump performance and wear life. Provide feedback for product improvements based on field experience.
Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Four (4) years of applicable engineering or business degree, or at least 10 years of experience with slurry pumps and systems, including 5 years with mill discharge pumps. Ten (10) years of relevant industry and product experience. Five (5) years of onsite mining experience dealing with maintenance, operations, reliability, engineering, and HSEC. Knowledge of legal mining industry affairs and contract management. Proven track record of professional accomplishments and reliability. International experience in South American mining markets, especially in Chile, Peru, and Brazil. Familiarity with Metso Pumps products and broad industry knowledge. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in English (written and verbal). Location: South America.
