We are looking for a skilled Senior Akamai Security Engineer to lead the implementation and management of an advanced Akamai security stack, including WAF, Bot Manager, DDoS Protection, and Account Protector.
This vital role will focus on optimizing security configurations, collaborating across teams, and maintaining a strong security posture for our digital ecosystem.
Responsibilities
Lead the implementation and optimization of Akamai's full security portfolio, including WAF, Bot Manager, DDoS Protection, and Account Protector
Collaborate with architects to design and implement robust security policies for diverse application environments
Configure and fine-tune Akamai security policies to balance protection and performance
Develop and deploy custom security rules based on evolving threats and business needs
Implement IP Geo Rate Limiting, geographic access controls, and CIAM protection using Akamai Account Protector
Drive site migrations to new security policy frameworks as required
Optimize performance and user experience while maintaining strong security configurations
Mentor and guide team members to strengthen organizational cybersecurity expertise
Lead collaboration between security and application development teams to embed security into engineering practices
Provide technical guidance, conduct training sessions, and promote knowledge sharing across the organization
Requirements
3+ years of cybersecurity or network security experience,



including hands-on work with Akamai security technologies
Expertise in Akamai Web Application Firewall (WAF), Bot Manager, and DDoS Protection
Deep understanding of web application security principles, including the OWASP Top 10 and threat intelligence platforms
Knowledge of network security protocols, SSL/TLS, certificate management, and PKI
Experience with major cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP and understanding of load balancers and content delivery networks
Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipeline integration, and microservices architecture
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
Fluent communication skills in English at a B2+ level
Nice to have
Expertise in Akamai Account Protector and Edge Security features
Understanding of security monitoring solutions, SIEM integration, and API security
Knowledge of Akamai Ion platform for improved application performance
