Job Description

The purpose of Group Supply Chain is to grow shareholder value through the definition of Supply Chain strategy, partnering with the country supply chain teams for the execution thereof.

Group Supply Chain deliver world-class global commercial agreements and establish value-delivering strategic partnerships, drive health of discipline to ensure operational and commercial excellence and ensure through effective governance, policies and standards our supply chain ecosystem operates efficiently, effectively and ethically.
As part of the Global Category Management Team, this role will be responsible for overall coordination of the China and Low-Cost Country Sourcing Programme, which aims to reset Anglo American's cost base through aggressive commercial strategies that leverage established and emerging Chinese and other LCC Suppliers to deliver *****% cost improvement across various categories of spend.
Purpose
Responsible for managing a specific set of categories, in support of the broader portfolio strategy and business ambition that delivers improved business performance through commercial agreements, enables innovation, supplier partnering and internal stakeholder collaboration.
Key responsibilities include
Delivery & Performance
Responsible for developing relevant Supply Chain strategies, support input to business cases, plans to ensure security of supply, the advancement of supplier partnering that drives innovation and value, compile and execute sourcing events, support negotiations, establish and execute contracts.
Embrace an agile Supply Chain by being adaptive and flexible to accommodate and focus on emerging and changing business priorities
Project management of key initiatives
Commercial Value Delivery & Supplier Partnering
Support the development of the broader supply chain and category portfolio strategy, value creation plans and business cases by providing relevant data, analysis, opportunity assessments and market intelligence.
Understand regional strategic priorities and develop relevant Supply Chain & Category Management strategies to support business needs and improved value delivery with a focus on cost reduction, working capital and TCO initiatives.
Implement value creation and supplier engagement strategies that highlight the overall general Supply Chain strategy, critical tasks, performance targets and Business Unit priorities




Develop and manage relationships with strategic suppliers, to drive step change in value and deliver innovative solutions that position Anglo American as partner of choice
Participate in negotiations with finalising GFAs (General Framework Agreements) and related Contract Amendments
Optimize value through innovation, risk mitigation and growth throughout the relationship life cycle
Planning
Plan, schedule, resource and execute activities relating to relevant contracts in category portfolio
Identify, enable & track value and inclusive procurement opportunities, commercial initiatives and specific resource requirements
Track and monitor progress tracking against category management targets
Provide input into the relevant budget and resource requirements
Sourcing & Contracts Management
Accountable for the contract over its life-cycle and ensure contract administration and performance management activities are executed timely and with quality
Ensure the effective and efficient execution of contracts management activities for allocated portfolio (including the loading of finalized contracts onto the system to enable transactions)
Manage the implementation of bespoke agreements that outline innovation, joint development, technical, commercial, relationship and performance expectations
Support the Supply Chain Management function with on-site implementation of end-to-end commercial activities and the resolution of escalated issues
Implement value opportunities and assist with the resolution of risks and identification of risk mitigation solutions pertaining to the portfolio
Inclusive Procurement
Understand community specific needs and identify value creation opportunities to address these
Drive a culture of community development and inclusive procurement with stakeholders that are aligned to the global and regional Inclusive Procurement strategies
Responsible for providing input to and delivering against inclusive procurement and commercial plans to ensure targets are met against scheduled milestones
Implement an Inclusive Procurement programme that will increase host community commercial participation and support the development of thriving communities
Embed clear Inclusive Procurement expectations, targets and initiatives in commercial agreements
Support the global Inclusive Procurement team to identify supplier development needs and opportunities, and support the development of solutions
Sustainability & Social
Encourage and maintain a culture of Sustainable Value through ESG, TCO initiatives, innovation, working capital and cost reduction
Implements sustainable value creation strategies, initiatives and associated business cases, that advance Anglo American technical, community, sustainability, and financial ambitions
Physical Supply Chain
Build and maintain relationships with materials management and warehousing teams to ensure alignment on future demand requirements, working capital optimization opportunities and the resolution of supplier non-performance
Support Materials Planning in Anglo American through alignment with Physical Supply Chain
Supply Chain Excellence




Responsible for the seamless and quality handover of relevant contracts to on-site Supply Chain teams that will support the site-based implementation and day-to-day performance management
Adopt new ways of working and systems usage within own team, with suppliers and key stakeholders
Monitor that supplier performance, based on contractual KPIs, is tracked and updated by relevant Supply Chain Manager
Monitor category/contract/supplier performance and intervene/escalate proactively where required
Investigate digitization opportunities with suppliers to develop compelling business cases and collaborate with stakeholders and the SC Centre of Excellence for potential implementation.
Support the Supply Chain Manager and Company Representative functions in the implementation and operationalisation of active contracts, as well as continued contractor management initiatives
Qualifications
An undergraduate qualification - Bachelor degree level or equivalent, alternatively relevant tertiary qualification and proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity.
Experience: Practical experience in relevant field
Technical Knowledge:
Good technical knowledge across the SC value chain
Ability to integrate Commercial, PSC, Supplier Management & Purchasing sub disciplines
Safety & Sustainability as it relates to Supply Chain & Inclusive Procurement
Good commercial, negotiation and deal-making, business case development, investment appraisal
Category Management, strategic sourcing and contracting within capital equipment and technology categories, applying Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), lifecycle modelling and asset performance optimisation principles.

Business Planning, Business Case development
Working knowledge of regional and local Inclusive Procurement requirements
