Qualifications and Experience

nn
- Teaching certificate that covers grades 6-8 preferably in Health, Counseling, School Nursing or PE.
n
- A minimum of 2 years relevant teaching experience.
n
- Experience teaching Health topics and Sex Education conceptually in an interactive curriculum.
n
- Professional level proficiency in English.
n
- Experience teaching with US based Health standards is an advantage.
n
- Experience in curriculum and unit design, using the Understanding By Design framework.
n
- Experience delivering social and emotional learning lessons.
n
- Preferred experience in a multicultural school environment.
n

Main Duties and Responsibilities

- Uses school's guiding statements to determine appropriate learning objectives.
n
- Monitors and evaluates student progress and achievement in relation to learning objectives.
n
- Uses a body of learning evidence to inform instruction.
n
- Teaches in accordance with the Health department’s adopted beliefs and best practices.
n
- Collaborates effectively with colleagues in creating authentic learning experiences that promote student choice and student agency.
n
- Contributes to the school community outside of the classroom (e.g., after-school activities, coaching, etc.).
n
- Serves as a middle school advisor.
n
- Teaches Exploratory courses as appropriate.
n
- Actively seeks professional growth opportunities through Nido’s PD Academy.
n
- Participates in Outdoor Education trips.
n
- Contributes to lunchtime and recess supervision.
n
