Overview
An exciting opportunity for a registered nurse to join the Haematology / Oncology Day Unit VHK. The unit operates Monday to Friday 0800‑1900. Shift pattern will be discussed at interview.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the safe delivery and planning of systemic anti‑cancer therapy and supportive care to patients with malignant and non‑malignant haematology and oncology disorders.
- Deliver established treatment pathways and contribute to clinical trials, supporting continuous learning.
- Assist with venepuncture and cannulation, completing level one blood transfusion training (which may be completed on the job).
- Provide compassionate care in a supportive day‑unit environment.
Qualifications
- Post registration experience within an acute setting.
- Excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to work in haematology and oncology nursing.
- Completion of level one blood transfusion training; venepuncture and cannulation experience required.
- Completion of infusional and bolus SACT training desirable but not essential – training will be provided through the Edinburgh Cancer Centre.
- Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.
