Position
An experienced and highly motivated Principal Pharmacist is required to lead and manage the Clinical Pharmacy team across NHS Ayrshire & Arran Acute hospital sites.
Hours and Shift Pattern
36 hours working over 7 days. The post involves participation in departmental rotas including weekends and public holidays. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
What You Will Do
You will be responsible for the strategic planning and delivery of clinical pharmacy services across NHS Ayrshire & Arran, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards as part of the Principal Pharmacist Clinical Services Team. The role will be strategically aligned to the Medicine Division (cardiology, endocrine, gastroenterology, respiratory, stroke, care of the elderly and frailty). Key responsibilities include:
- Promoting strong clinical governance links and enabling collaborative working with the directorate senior leadership team.
- Monitoring and evaluating clinical pharmacy service provision and performance, using evaluation data to drive improvement and development.
- Leading and contributing to the development of clinical pharmacy services and participating in local, regional and national groups.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master of Pharmacy degree or equivalent and registration as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Completed a postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy and the RPS Core Advanced Curriculum or equivalent experience.
- Independent prescribing qualification.
- Leadership, staff management and performance management experience.
- Demonstrated evidence of experience in service delivery and development, and the ability to examine current practice and develop and implement innovative solutions for improvement.
Required Driving Licence
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential to this role.
