Locum Specialty Dentist in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has emerged within the department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS). We are seeking a locum Specialty Dentist to join our existing team based at University Hospital Monklands. This is a temporary locum position for a period of 12 months.

The post is offered as a full‑time position on a 10 PA basis. Applicants wishing to work less than full‑time will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to treat general OMFS conditions at a Specialty Dentist level in an OMFS Unit. Responsibilities include:
- Management of routine and complex oral surgery cases.
- Delivery of high‑quality patient care and ensuring patient safety.
- Participation in medical education, research & development activities.
- Support quality improvement initiatives, including human factors training.
- Act as an appraiser where required.

Qualifications





The candidate should have completed four years’ full‑time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part‑time or adaptable basis). Experience in treating general OMFS conditions at a Specialty Dentist level is essential.

Additional SPA Opportunities

Proposals for additional SPA time are encouraged. In addition to the 1 PA for Non‑DCC/SPA activities, the Board supports applications for extra SPA time from individuals with well‑developed ideas for improving services. Candidates demonstrating a commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, medical education, research & development, or related areas may propose an increased PA for SPA duties. Such proposals should be discussed with the Recruitment Lead or Service Manager.
