Job Summary

In this role, you will be required to prepare hydraulic/hydrologic calculations and reports for one or more projects under the supervision of an experienced hydraulic engineering specialist. You will provide input to the hydrology & hydraulic portion of multidisciplinary engineering studies, coordinate with others to find the most adequate solutions, and present results to the project team.

Major Responsibilities

- Assisting in preparing hydraulic/hydrologic calculations, conceptual designs, studies and reports, mainly for mining projects.
- Supporting one or more projects and studies executed worldwide, simultaneously, as dictated by need and availability.
- Meeting schedule and budget for the assigned tasks, while following Bechtel procedures and keeping high technical quality.
- Coordinating work tasks with other technical specialists, engineering disciplines, and project personnel, as needed.
- Participating in and fostering a work environment based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, and innovation.
- Exercising basic engineering judgment while performing assigned tasks.
- Participating in technical excellence activities, such as co-authoring technical papers for conferences, keeping abreast of technological developments, etc.
- Supporting the hydraulic engineering lead on project to track progress of the work developed.

Education and Experience Requirements





- Requires a Civil Engineering or Civil Industrial Engineering degree with major/specialization in Hydraulic/Hydrologic Engineering, and 1-3 years of experience in hydraulic/hydrologic engineering.
- Preferred if also holds an MSc or PhD degree in the same specialty.

Required Knowledge and Skills

- Possesses programming skills in R, Python, Matlab, Visual Basic, and/or similar computer language.
- Possesses basic experience in using specialty computer programs such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, General Mapper, FluidFlow, or similar.
- Able to fluently communicate in English and in Spanish, both verbally and written communication (high proficiency).
- Good verbal and writing skills to communicate with team in preparation of reports, calculations and other documentation.
- Willingness and ability to travel to and remain at jobsites on generally short-term assignments (up to several weeks at a time).
