Overview

Ward 31 is a 23‑bedded dedicated fracture neck of femur ward and is the only ward of its kind in Scotland. It is a busy, forward‑thinking ward within a diverse directorate, working collaboratively across the Orthopaedic Department. Our patient population is predominantly frail and elderly, many experiencing delirium, dementia and a range of acute medical conditions alongside complex orthopaedic needs. Delivering high‑quality, compassionate, and person‑centred care is central to the work of the ward.

Responsibilities

- Provide high‑quality, compassionate, and person‑centred care in a busy, multidisciplinary environment.
- Work rotational shift, covering day and night duty in line with service needs.
- Deliver care to a largely frail, elderly population with delirium, dementia and complex orthopaedic needs.
- Work effectively under pressure and cope with competing demands of a busy acute ward environment.





Training & Clinical Skills

- Patient vital sign observations
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Venepuncture

Full training and support will be provided, including opportunities to gain experience across trauma and elective orthopaedic wards.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Willingness to complete SVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent).
- Resilience and ability to work under pressure.
- Part‑time post (salary pro‑rata).
