This position will oversee and manage the Controllership functions of Latin America and Caribbean entities, including period-end close, balance-sheet and inter-company reconciliations, statutory reporting, and coordination of internal and external audits.
The Controller will support the Regional CFO and the Americas Controller in providing overall oversight of the legal entities in the LAC region, ensuring all key financial deliverables are completed and submitted on time.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all period-end closing financial reporting activities in US GAAP and local GAAP ledgers for LAC entities, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met in collaboration with FC.
Ensure accounting standards and policies are adhered to, coordinate and review month-end and quarter-end reporting activities, and perform analytical review, including variance analysis with the CFO, providing commentary on major movements.
Collaborate with cash-flow and local treasury management; prepare and file statutory accounts, provide supporting documentation for audits, and ensure timely compliance with local statutory requirements.
Work closely with FC and business colleagues to resolve issues, communicate changes, discuss KPIs, and participate in dashboard reviews to ensure timely and accurate balance-sheet reconciliations and inter-company balance schedules.
Ensure an effective internal control environment, coordinate planning and execution of local internal and external audit work.
Coordinate and monitor the team's efforts to fulfill SOX audit inquiries from corporate and external auditors, ensuring control owners perform SOX test controls and provide support.
Partner with the Regional and Local CFOs, local controllers and FC to understand business performance, provide financial insights, support, and advice, and prepare key deliverables for business and external stakeholders.
Manage and develop the Controllership team, supervising staff engaged in financial and management reporting, general ledger, accounts payable, invoicing, accounts receivable, inter-company transactions, taxation, fixed assets, inventory management, cash management, purchasing, and payroll.
Set goals, establish priorities, and serve as interface between controllers and other departments, providing support and advice on procedures, systems, and priorities.
Lead project management and application implementation activities, including documentation and user training, and liaise with finance and IT staff in regional headquarters regarding changes in development, design, and implementation of corporate accounting, payroll, purchasing, and tax systems.
Coordinate management of AIG LAC countries across all legal entities in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Key Experience
8–15 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
Hands-on experience in a controllership role.
Experience in the insurance industry is required.
Strong preference for working with shared-service centers.
Experience with internal controls and SOX.
Education
University degree in accounting or equivalent; MBA is a plus.
