The Role:
The Global Practice Lead, Enterprise Risk Management will function as Lundin Mining’s risk leader, and actively engage with executives, relevant Board committees, and leaders to monitor, assess, and report on the status of the company’s enterprise risk portfolio. Risks may include: corporate governance, regulatory, operational, health & safety, environment, community, human rights, business continuity, information management, security and reputation.
This role will plan, design, and implement pragmatic and effective processes for identifying and managing risks across the company. The role will also regularly visit mine sites and effectively engage with senior operational leaders and site risk champions to ensure that risk management processes are implemented effectively. This role will also provide risk strategy and awareness training, and ensure that risk identification, mitigation and management processes are developed and embedded across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as risk expert and champion for Lundin Mining by enabling the business to better understand its risk profile and effectively manage material risks.
- Lead enterprise-wide risk management and risk analysis activities.
- Provide risk management support (including training) for operations, projects and functional initiatives.
- Communicate risk information to support planning, decision-making, governance and compliance across all levels of the company.
- Develop and continuously improve the implementation of integrated risk management methodologies and tools.
- Track and report upon progress to mitigate material risks.
- Provide risk management support and reporting to Executive leadership and relevant Board committees.
- Provide timely and meaningful risk reporting to business leaders, and regularly prepare executive level risk summaries.
- Support the Finance Team with management of insurance risks and loss prevention activities; provide support with data collection for insurance renewals.
- Plan and attend risk engineering visits to mine sites, and review quarterly updates from mine sites following these visits.
- Ensure alignment between Lundin Mining’s Risk Management Statement, Risk Management Framework, and the Responsible Mining Management System.
- Support each site and project as well as the Health & Safety, Environmental, Communities & Social Performance and other functional teams to identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and track their implementation.
What You Bring:
- A minimum of 10 years of operational experience is required, including experience in the mining industry.
- Fluency in Spanish and English is required; fluency in Portuguese is an asset.
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Risk Management, Business, or other relevant field.
- Commitment to safety and a solid understanding of continuous improvement.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (including technical report writing skills).
- Experienced in the development and delivery of effective risk training.
- Ability to influence others and work with cross-functional teams.
- Strong IT skills with proficiency in use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and Excel) required.
- Must be able to work in underground mining environments.
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
