Job Summary
This position is responsible for the mechanical equipment packages in Projects related to copper processing and mining Plants (Concentrators, Leaching, SX/EW TruckShop Plants, Tailings Handling Plants, Process Water Plants/Desalination Plants for Mining, etc.) with the ability to coordinate, develop and lead meetings with other Bechtel disciplines and areas, Customer and Vendors; to determine the scope of work, technical and design definitions, in addition to quantity and cost estimates for the mechanical aspects of a project scope.
Must have the necessary knowledge for the execution and review of engineering design, development, modification and/or evaluation of mechanical components and processes and interrelation with other disciplines.
Their recommendations will solve technical problems and ensure that the unique and complex requirements of the mechanical aspects of a project are met.
Major Responsibilities
Coordinating and managing mechanical packages, as a technical leader responsible for the documents and scheduled activities within the project.
Developing engineering design of equipment and mechanical systems for projects in the mining industry, including pumps (water and sludge distribution networks), HVAC equipment, material handling, grinding circuits and other related.
Having proven experience in mining process equipment of mining plants is essential requirement.
Knowledge in material handling equipment (will be valued) Review and, if applicable, perform calculations and analyses that lead to technical design recommendations.
Being responsible for material requests, specifications, data sheets and other technical documents related to mechanical equipment procurement.
Developing and leading the evaluation of suppliers and technical evaluations of tenders for the purchase of mechanical equipment.
Coordinating with mechanical designers to produce designs and drawings according to project standards.
Coordinating and supervising with P&ID; mechanical designers to produce drawings according to the project standards.
Coordinaing the work and collaborating with other disciplines and engineering areas of the Company.
This involves unifying the efforts of mechanics with all assigned areas and specialized groups, engineering disciplines, the customer, the supplier, contractors, construction and other functional groups.
Reviewing and/or preparing conceptual studies, calculation reports, designs, reports or proposals.
Providing technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interact with project and customer functions, to solve complex regulatory problems with knowledge of industry codes and standards.
Providing assistance to project and construction management to identify and comply with the mechanical requirements of the project and address problems that arise during the execution of the project.
Education And Experience Requirements
Role requires a degree in Mechanical Civil Engineering (or international equivalent), and a minimum of 15 years of relevant and specific work experience in mining.
Required Knowledge And Skills
Knowledge of dry and wet area equipment applied in projects and equipment required in mining industry processes (mandatory).
On-the-ground experience in the mining industry (valued).
Knowledge of design and calculation of material handling equipment in concentrator plants (desirable).
Knowledge of the development and analysis of calculations of water networks and pulps (mandatory).
Knowledge of calculation development for air networks, air conditioning and fire protection systems (desirable).
Candidate must effectively apply knowledge and technical skills to solve a variety of problems, complete tasks/assignments and provide guidance and advice.
Candidate must have sufficient experience and skills to act with considerable professional autonomy.
Flexibility and enthusiasm for individual and team tasks.
Advanced intermediate level of oral and written English (will be valued).
Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication.
