Transport Driver – Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy
Opportunities have arisen for Transport Drivers to join the busy Transport Department within the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy on a full-time (36 hours), part‑time (4 hours), and bank basis.
Posts and Hours available
- POST 1: 1 × 36 hours, Monday to Friday, hours between 7 am & 5 pm
- POST 2: 1 × 4 hours, Saturday only 11:30 am to 3:30 pm
- POST 3: Bank, 0 hours – as and when required

The hours of work will be worked in line with the needs of the service and to meet service demands. The working days are predominantly between Monday & Friday; however we do provide a limited service at the weekends.
Full training will be provided on all Transport driving duties such as Laboratories/specimen collections, Pharmacy, Stores Goods, Patient Transport and Clinical Waste collections etc. Drivers may be lone workers, driving throughout Fife (and surrounding area e.g. Edinburgh & Dundee) on a daily basis; routes can also be repetitive. Vehicles range from cars, vans, minibuses and 3.5 tonne lorries.
You will be based at the service yard at the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy; however there may be a requirement to work within any other Hospital sites if required.
There is a physical and manual handling element to the post due to transporting various items including cages, stores, medical notes, equipment, furniture,
clinical waste bins and Labs & Pharmacy boxes.
Requirements:
- Good communication skills and ability to follow route mapping and timed duty schedules.
- Must hold a full clean UK driving licence.
Training and compliance:
- Full department training and one‑to‑one coaching will be provided, including ADR training for clinical waste collections.
- Attendance required at the NHS Fife induction training course.
- Annual mandatory training and PDP reviews conducted online.
- Performance must comply with the Mandatory Induction Standards for Health Care Support Workers in Scotland 2009 and the Code of Conduct.
