Center Manager

Starting Salary: $55,264*

General Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for the operation of a community center by supervising and maintaining the center and related facilities; performs professional recreational activities work for the Parks and Recreation Center, including planning and scheduling recreational, leisure and special events & adult athletic programs.

Other duties include supervision of staff, policy development for the facility, budget project and monitoring, maintaining discipline, ensuring facility and patron safety, participation in various recreation activities and communicating with the public concerning recreation activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must have considerable knowledge of a variety of recreation programs and activities, with the ability to supervise those activities.

Must have a working knowledge of the recreation facility, materials and equipment used in a public recreation program.

Must have the working knowledge of the city budget, purchasing and personnel policies.

Must have the ability to utilize computers and office software such as word processing and spreadsheets, and ability to use in performing duties.





Must have the ability to deal professionally, firmly, tactfully, and courteously with the public and other employees.

Requirements: Minimum of a four-year college degree in recreation administration or related degree and considerable experience in recreational, athletic and leisure time activities; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

This position requires the physical ability to lift or move up to 20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

This position requires the physical abilities of basic life operational functions including, but not limited to: stooping, kneeling, bending, twisting, walking, and running, to be able to fulfill job duties of participating in the activities of the facility.

Normal Work Hours: To be discussed during the interview process.

Hours of availability must be adaptable.

Work hours may include evening and weekend hours as needed.
