The Anglo American Group General Counsel & Company Secretary is accountable for the provision of legal advice to the Anglo American plc group and is the GMC member accountable for legal matters.

The purpose of the Legal team in Chile is to provide legal advice on the various areas of law in Chile, including compliance, corporate governance, sustainable development, environmental and permitting.

**Job Description**:

- The purpose of this position is to provide legal advice on Chilean law primarily focused on regulatory law, sustainable development, environment and permitting. To lead and manage the administration for sanctionary processes.

The main taks of this role is to act as a key member of the Chile Legal team, the role holder will be responsible for:

- Provide high quality legal advice on regulatory issues (including environmental and permitting) that could affect the Copper Business Unit and the Discovery Team.
- Support the compliance and corporate governance teams with the identification of risks and the compliance with existing legal regulations.
- Support the Legal Manager in raising awareness of any risk related to changes in law affecting the Copper Business Unit, including issuing the corresponding reports. For that purpose, it is required to actively participate in SONAMI and Consejo Minero.




- Support the Legal Manager in the management of legal services provided by external lawyers and law firms, to ensure that they are provided in a cost-effective manner and with high quality.
- Contribute to the development of Group Legal’s systems, procedures and strategies for managing legal risks.
- Draft or supervise drafting of agreements required in sustainable development or other activities under this role.
- Draft or supervise drafting of agreements required for Social Investment or other activities under this role, such as donations and sponsorships.
- Provide advice on environmental issues including environmental inspections and review permitting strategies developed by the permitting team for operations and projects.
- Propose systems, procedures and strategies for managing legal risks in relation to matters advising on compliance, corporate governance, environmental law, permitting and mining resources matters.
- Timely inform clients of any legal risk in relevant transactions and relationships.
- Support the Chile Legal team in budgeting processes and cost forecasting.

- Qualifications
- Admitted as a lawyer in Chile.
- Desirable postgraduate studies in Enviro
