Overview

GitHub's Integrated Marketing team is looking for a Senior Content Marketing Manager to serve as the lead in developer audience marketing, content strategy, and key growth marketing motions and initiatives. The role is idóneo for someone who thrives at the intersection of storytelling, product insight, and measurable impact.

You’ll focus on key growth marketing motions, build channel strategy, and partner with Product Marketing, Product, Social, Lifecycle, and Developer Relations to create content and journeys that inspire action. You’ll turn data into narrative, and narrative into product adoption.

You’re highly technical, you know developers, and you’re well‑versed in the AI landscape and modern software development. In this role, you’ll act as a subject‑matter expert, lead content targeted to developers, and bring a strong point of view on how to be clear, credible, and aligned to real workflows. You’ll ensure content reaches developers and reflects how they build, learn, and use tools in practice.

You’ll also manage end‑to‑end execution planning across complex, cross‑functional initiatives, analyze performance data to generate insights, and continuously improve how content drives sustained developer engagement.

Responsibilities

- Lead GitHub’s developer content strategy across awareness, consideration, and adoption, including briefs, timelines, and editorial planning.
- Create and edit content that hits a high quality bar and focuses on topics developers care about.
- Translate developer insights and product telemetry into actionable messaging, content themes, and campaigns that drive activation and retention.
- Partner with Product and PMM to align positioning, messaging, and campaigns designed to sustain product engagement.
- Work with Lifecycle to build onboarding, nurture,

and reactivation email series.
- Build content strategy to support paid media and creative execution.
- Define and measure success by analyzing KPIs across campaigns, products, and revenue outcomes.
- Identify patterns in developer engagement and behavior to refine strategy and improve how developers interact with products over time.
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior leadership, to inform decision‑making.
- Guide how campaign assets come to life across channels (web, lifecycle, paid media, events), ensuring consistency and relevance.
- Act as a quality bar for how campaigns show up to developers—flagging when messaging feels overly promotional, abstract, or disconnected from real usage.

Required Qualifications

- 7+ years experience in content writing, content design, journalism, or a related field, OR a Bachelor’s degree in English, Writing, Literature, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Philosophy, or a related field AND 5+ years experience in content writing, content design, journalism, or a related field.
- 1+ year(s) experience leading cross‑functional projects with multiple stakeholders/teams (e.g., Developer Relations, Product Marketing, Communications, Executive Communications, Demand Generation) or establishing processes in cross‑functional projects.
- Experience marketing to developer audiences, including campaigns that influence product adoption or usage.
- Background in Developer Relations, technical writing,

or developer content creation.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working across cross‑functional teams, including Product Marketing, Paid Media, Lifecycle, and Web.
- Experience working in a high‑tech or digital‑native company, preferably in developer tools, SaaS, cloud, AI, or platform‑based businesses.
- Background in DevRel or technical writing.
- Prior experience as a software developer, engineer, or in a hands‑on technical role, with a strong understanding of developer workflows, tools, and environments.
- Proven ability to translate data and research into actionable messaging and campaigns.
- Experience analyzing content and campaign performance.

Compensation

The base salary range for this job is USD $82,500.00 - USD $218,900.00 per year. This range covers roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on factors such as geographic location and the review of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock, as well as sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
