Trina Storage, a division of Trinasolar specialized in energy storage systems, is seeking a SCADA Engineer to join its LAC Project Delivery team.
The SCADA Engineer is a key technical role responsible for the design, implementation, and commissioning of control, communications, and monitoring systems across Trina Storage’s BESS portfolio in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The engineer works closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, SCADA Providers, HQ Integration Team and HQ Engineering Team, including Client Engineers, to ensure all SCADA, BMS integration, and communication infrastructure meets contractual, regulatory, and operational standards.
This role requires strong technical expertise in communication protocols and SCADA commissioning, as well as the ability to coordinate multi‑party teams and communicate effectively in both Spanish and English.
Key Responsibilities
SCADA Architecture & Engineering
- Design and review SCADA architecture for BESS projects, including networking topology, server configuration, and communication protocols (Modbus TCP/RTU, DNP3, OPC UA).




- Define and validate communication interfaces between BMS, PCS, MV skids, and remote/local control centers (SCADA and CCC / dispatch).
- Prepare and review technical specifications for SCADA systems and fiber optic networks.
- Evaluate and approve engineering designs from Client EPC contractors and third‑party integrators, ensuring compliance with interoperability and communication protocols.
- Support supplier evaluation and RFQ/clarification processes; provide technical responses to vendor queries.
- Lead and coordinate commissioning of SCADA and control systems on‑site, including pre‑commissioning checks (FAT/SAT support), signal verification, and interoperability testing.
- Train and guide site personnel and end users on SCADA operation; provide technical support during and after system startup.
