About the Role
- The Lead Principal, Portfolio Development for BHP Ventures will act as the primary bridge between BHP Ventures and the Minerals America business.
- This role exists to identify strategic challenges and opportunities where external innovation can deliver value, build strong relationships with senior leaders and delivery teams, and ensure successful integration of venture-backed technologies into operations.
- As the sole Ventures representative in the region,



this position will champion portfolio companies, foster engagement, and drive adoption of innovative solutions that align with BHP’s priorities.

Key Accountabilities:
- Establish strong, trust-based connections with senior leaders and decision-makers across operating assets and functional teams within Minerals America.
- Continuously assess business needs and strategic challenges to identify where technology or external innovation can deliver value.
- Collaborate with the Ventures investing team to shape strategic rationale for prospective investments and facilitate introductions to technical and business stakeholders.
- Act as the primary owner and advocate for startups in the portfolio—drive engagement through workshops, roundtables, and stakeholder connections.
- Develop and deliver a Quarterly Engagement Plan to systematically showcase activities and ensure integration of pilots and trials.
