Job Description

The Mining Control Systems Specialist advises and drives the implementation of Mine Control Systems, Equipment and Mine Process Simulation Systems, and Mine Asset Information Management Systems to optimise business processes for sustainable results.

Key Responsibilities

- Contribute to the vision and strategy for a Group-wide Mine Control Systems and Mine Asset Information Management Systems approach.
- Advise on the selection and use of specialist Mine Control System technology (Fleet Management Systems, Short Interval Control Systems, Digital Twin Simulation technology, etc.) for site commissioning and use.
- Own, develop, implement, and maintain Mine Control System Strategy and Standards.
- Manage and drive site‑based Mine Control System upgrades (software, hardware, etc.) and Disaster Recovery Backups.
- Advise on the effective use and maintenance of the Mine Asset Information Management Systems (COMOS, other).
- Utilise specialist vendor systems knowledge to manage vendor installation teams to deliver projects effectively.
- Increase the value in use of Mine Control Systems technologies by replicating best practice across the group.
- Develop the skills base of site Mine Control, Digital Twin Simulation, and Mine Asset Information Management teams.
- Integrate the Mine Control, Digital Twin, and Mine Asset Information Systems framework with the Anglo Operating Model on site level.




- Design and implement controls to eliminate Mine Control System EC&I; repeat failures.
- Advise on the identification of systems‑driven business opportunities at site level.
- Develop and implement effective training programs.
- Evaluate and test new system features in a development environment.
- Capture and manage best‑practice approaches in systems and documentation.
- Support integration of the Short Interval Control framework with the Mine Control Systems on site level.
- Ensure business continuity requirements are maintained.
- Visibly demonstrate SHE values and principles.

Qualifications

Knowledge

- Formal qualifications: Undergraduate degree (Bachelor's/Honours) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Software Engineering, or equivalent; postgraduate degree (Master's/Doctoral) in a relevant discipline or proven practical experience.
- Role‑specific knowledge: Mine Control System technology (FMS, SIC, Digital Twin Simulation, etc.) for site commissioning and operation.
- Technical skills: Implement effective solutions, solve technical and operational issues, lead idea generation and practical initiatives, and demonstrate execution of advanced mine technical/control systems.
- Knowledge of Advanced Mine Technical/Control Systems Configuration and Application.
