Our client is software development company with presence in New York, USA and Santiago, Chile. They are currently seeking a Staff Backend Manager to join their Chilean team.

Mission

The company has successfully developed a best‑in‑class app for iOS and macOS and now aims to provide Web and Android users with the same level of user experience. To achieve this, it needs to deliver backend APIs that can support all platforms efficiently and at scale.

Role Overview

As part of this effort, the company is seeking a Staff Backend Engineering Manager to lead these initiatives alongside the existing Backend engineering team.

Responsibilities

- Manage the Backend team to deliver new features required to support our iOS, macOS, Android, and Web offerings.
- Review the Backend team's architecture and infrastructure to propose improvements in the Backend Developer Experience.
- Work closely with the Product and Client teams to scope and prioritize the work needed to support new features.




- Help in future hiring efforts for the Backend team.

Required Qualifications

- 7+ years of experience working on backend services.
- Extensive experience developing with Node/JavaScript.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience in API design and architecture for mobile and web apps.
- English proficiency. All meetings and internal communications are in English.
- Experience leading and/or managing a small (or big!) engineering team.
- Based in Santiago, Chile.

Desired Qualifications

- Bachelor in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Experience with Firebase/Firestore, TypeScript, CI/CD systems.
- Experience developing monitoring and alert infrastructure.
- Experience collaborating in hiring processes, either interviewing, taking tests, or managing the process.
