Laborer

Starting Salary: $32,604

General Duties and Responsibilities

Performs a variety of manual work related to repair and maintenance of streets and pipelines or transporting of materials.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have the ability to use a variety of tools and equipment to repair and maintain City streets as well as the ability to drive a standard truck (non-CDL), use a snow plow; knowledge of traffic laws, general maintenance,



and hazards associated with repair and maintenance of streets; ability to perform manual work in varying weather conditions; have the ability to understand and interpret simple oral and written instructions and have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with citizens and coworkers. Must have excellent customer service skills.

Requirements

Completion of high school or GED and one year of experience performing manual work; experience in street maintenance or similar work preferred. Valid NC drivers’ license required.
