Project Overview: Mining and Metals: Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries.
This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition.

Job Summary: In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination.
Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
The position is focused on the Electrical and Instrumentation Control (I C) discipline for the ENTS project (truck shop, mining infrastructure) at Minera Escondida, Región de Antofagasta, Chile, under an 8x6 rotational roster at a remote / high-altitude site.
Major Responsibilities: Work Planning Packaging:Prepares construction drawings and sketches; Leads preparation of construction drawings and schedules and the design of temporary construction facilities and ensures preparation of "as built" drawings and other job plans.
Material Management: Initiates requisitions for field purchases; Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
Quantities: Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
Safety- Quality Control:
Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Technical: Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
Electrical I C Discipline Focus Provides field engineering support for electrical and I C construction: power distribution, MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, transformers, cable tray/conduit, cabling and terminations, grounding, lighting, heat tracing, cathodic protection, and instrumentation control systems.
Performs and verifies electrical/I C quantity take-offs and progress/performance reporting using SETROUTE and quantity tracking systems.
Reviews and approves electrical Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and coordinates construction testing: continuity, insulation resistance (megger), hi-pot, loop checks and motor rotation verification.
Ensures compliance with applicable codes and standards (NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, IEC, IEEE) and Chilean electrical regulations (SEC / NCh Elec.).
Initiates and controls Field Change Documents (FCD), RFIs and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for electrical/I C scope per Bechtel SWPPs.
Supports Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) and Installation Work Package (IWP) development and sequencing for electrical/I C commodities.
Coordinates subcontractor electrical/I C activities, technical submittals and Division of Responsibility (DOR).
Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (or international equivalent) and 8–10 years of relevant experience or ***** years of relevant work experience.
Experience on large EPC/EPCM mining, industrial, energy or infrastructure projects; remote / high-altitude site experience (Región de Antofagasta / Minera Escondida) desirable.
Working knowledge of Bechtel corporate procedures/SWPPs (electrical installation **************, electrical testing ****, document control ****, NCR ****, FCD ****, RFI ****) and digital tools (Aconex, SETROUTE, TeamWorks, DSCS); QA/QC per Bechtel Construction Quality Management System (SWPP ****) and BHP project requirements; ES H: Zero Incident Philosophy and Chilean regulations DS 132 (Reglamento de Seguridad Minera) and Ley N°******.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Fluent Spanish and working-level technical English; valid driver's license; availability for an 8x6 rotational roster on site.
Electrical I C construction means, methods and installation practices.
Reading and interpretation of electrical/I C drawings: single-line diagrams, cable schedules, loop diagrams and P IDs.
Codes standards: NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, IEC, IEEE; Chilean SEC / NCh electrical regulations.
Quantity take-off, quantity tracking and progress/performance reporting.
Inspection testing: ITP development, megger, hi-pot, continuity and loop checks; turnover documentation.
Field engineering tools: Aconex, SETROUTE, TeamWorks, MS Office/Excel and Power BI.
Subcontract technical administration and Division of Responsibility (DOR) management.
ES H leadership and hazard/risk analysis (JHA / Q4).
Prior mining / heavy-industrial construction experience, ideally in Chile and at remote / high-altitude sites.
Demonstrated command of electrical/I C QA/QC, inspection testing and system turnover.
Proficiency with Bechtel SWPPs and construction automation tools (Aconex, SETROUTE, TeamWorks).
