Responsibilities and more:

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement

Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with operational objectives, project schedules, and budgets.

Build and maintain strong relationships with international and PNG-based suppliers.

Negotiate commercial agreements, contracts, and preferred supplier arrangements.

Develop resilient sourcing strategies to minimize supply chain risks.

Leadership & Team Development

Establish and lead the procurement department from the ground up.

Recruit, mentor, and develop procurement professionals across Brisbane and PNG.

Create clear governance, accountability, and procurement best practices.

Procurement Systems & Governance

Design and implement procurement SOPs, approval workflows, and purchasing controls.

Introduce procurement systems and inventory management tools.

Ensure compliance with procurement governance, audit requirements, and financial controls.





Manage supplier qualification, vendor risk assessments, and contract compliance.

Operational Delivery

Support critical procurement activities across remote mining operations.

Resolve supply chain disruptions, customs issues, and vendor challenges.

Collaborate with logistics teams to ensure uninterrupted material availability.

Identify alternative sourcing strategies to protect project schedules.

Cost & Commercial Management

Drive procurement cost savings and value engineering initiatives.

Align procurement plans with project budgets and cash flow forecasts.

Manage procurement spend, reporting, and supplier performance.

Essential Requirements

✔ Proven leadership experience in Procurement or Supply Chain within:

Mining

Resources

Exploration

Heavy Construction

✔ Demonstrated experience:

Building procurement functions from the ground up

Developing procurement SOPs and governance frameworks

Strategic sourcing and vendor negotiations

Managing procurement teams

Budgeting and commercial management

ERP / Procurement Systems

✔ Comfortable with regular travel and extended periods working on remote PNG sites.

Preferred Experience

Papua New Guinea procurement experience

Pacific or frontier market operations

Existing supplier relationships within PNG

Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related discipline
