Matt Zatko Software is seeking a visionary and technical Principal Backend Developer (Desarrollador Backend Principal) to lead the architectural design, development, and scaling of our core enterprise software systems. In this high-impact role, you will define backend engineering standards, mentor development teams, and build high-performance, fault-tolerant microservices that power complex software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Define the technical architecture, design patterns, and long-term strategy for backend services and API ecosystems.
- Write clean, maintainable, and highly efficient code for complex backend microservices and core infrastructure.
- Optimize system performance, database queries, and system throughput to handle high-concurrency traffic and scalable data loads.
- Lead code reviews, establish engineering best practices, and mentor senior and mid-level software engineers.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Frontend Engineers, and DevOps teams to align technical roadmap with business objectives.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging backend technologies, frameworks, and cloud-native solutions to ensure systems remain modern and secure.

Requirements & Qualifications




- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 7+ years of experience in backend software development, with at least 2+ years in a Principal, Lead, or Staff Engineer role.
- Mastery of modern backend languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, Node.js, or C#/.NET Core).
- Expertise in distributed systems architecture, microservices, RESTful/GraphQL APIs, and database design (SQL and NoSQL).
- Deep understanding of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Demonstrated track record of scaling high-concurrency applications and managing complex system refactoring.
- Professional fluency in Spanish and English (both written and verbal) is required.
