The Role:
The Principal, Resource Geologist plays a key role in providing technical leadership and oversight of Mineral Resource Estimation activities across the Company's operating mines, development projects, and exploration assets. This is a 1-year contract position reporting directly to the Director, Resource Geology. This position is responsible for ensuring that Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserve Estimates are robust, consistent, and prepared in accordance with NI ****** requirements, CIM Definition Standards, and industry best practices.
Working closely with site geology teams, technical specialists, Qualified Persons (QPs), and external consultants, the Principal Resource Geologist supports the delivery of high-quality resource models and technical disclosures while promoting continuous improvement, consistency, and technical excellence across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Resource Estimation and Technical Oversight
- Provide technical guidance and oversight for Mineral Resource Estimation programs across the Company's portfolio of assets.
- Review and challenge databases, QA/QC performance, geological interpretations, estimation strategies, resource classifications, and reporting assumptions to ensure they are technically solid and fit for purposes.
- Support site teams in the development and maintenance of geological and resource models.
- Promote consistent estimation methodologies, workflows, and reporting practices across all operations and projects.
- Contribute to the annual Mineral Resource reporting cycle and support the preparation of resource statements.
- Assists in business development and mergers and acquisition activity by providing broad geological overviews and assessments of mineral resources and reserve estimations of target companies or projects.
- Participates in "public information" reviews, site visits and technical due diligence exercises of target companies or projects.
- Prepare accurate, concise and timely reports and presentations on relevant aspects of target companies and projects.
NI ****** Reporting and Disclosure
- Act as a key technical resource for NI ****** reporting and Mineral Resource disclosure requirements.
- Support the preparation and review of Technical Reports, Annual Information Forms, news releases, and other public disclosures related to Mineral Resources.
- Ensure resource estimates are supported by appropriate documentation, defensible assumptions, and clear classification criteria.
- Work closely with Qualified Persons to ensure disclosures are compliant, transparent, and aligned with regulatory expectations.
- Stay current with developments in NI ******, CIM Standards, SEC SK-****, JORC, and other relevant reporting codes.
Governance, Reviews, and Continuous Improvement
- Participate in technical reviews, audits, and peer assessments of Mineral Resource Estimates and supporting workflows.
- Identify opportunities to improve estimation practices, data quality, and reporting consistency across the business.
- Support the development and implementation of corporate standards, guidelines, and best practices related to resource estimation and geological modeling.
- Assist in managing technical risks associated with Mineral Resource reporting.
Corporate and Strategic Support
- Provide technical input into project evaluations, due diligence reviews, and corporate development opportunities.
- Participate in site visits and technical assessments as required.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations,
and summaries for senior management and executive stakeholders.
- Support strategic initiatives related to Mineral Resource governance, reporting, and technical assurance.
Mentoring and Technical Development
- Mentor and support Resource Geologists across the organization.
- Foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Share best practices and facilitate technical discussions to strengthen resource estimation capability throughout the business.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Geostatistics, Mineral Resource Estimation, or a related field are considered an asset.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in geological modeling and Mineral Resource Estimation of porphyry Copper systems (5 years), IOCG (5 years) and.
- Demonstrated experience supporting Mineral Resource reporting under NI ******.
- Registered Member of the Chilean Mining Commission (CP), or equivalent recognized professional designation.
- Eligible to act as a Qualified Person (QP) under NI ******, or capable of supporting QP responsibilities through relevant technical expertise and experience.
- Software skills: Leapfrog Geo & Leapfrog Edge, Vulcan, Datamine, MinePlan, Deswik
- Ability to travel 80 percent of the time to sites in Chile and work in high altitude
