Job Description:
- Identify, develop, and manage relationships with open-market coal suppliers, traders, mine operators, washeries, and collieries to secure competitive and reliable coal supplies.
- Conduct regular site visits to coal mines, washeries, stockyards, and loading points to assess supplier capabilities, monitor operations, and strengthen vendor relationships.
- Actively coordinate with suppliers for coal availability, production planning, dispatch schedules, and commitment adherence.
- Witness rake loading, monitor dispatch execution, and ensure timely movement of coal from source locations to plant destinations.
- Follow up rigorously with suppliers and logistics partners to resolve operational bottlenecks, expedite dispatches, and ensure contractual compliance.
- Drive new supplier identification, evaluation, and vendor development initiatives to expand the coal sourcing network and mitigate supply risks.
- Monitor coal market dynamics, sourcing opportunities, freight movements, and regulatory developments to support procurement decisions.
- Collaborate with logistics, plant operations, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless coal movement and delivery.
- Track inventory levels, consumption patterns, and future fuel requirements to support procurement planning and prevent stock shortages.
- Manage procurement activities including RFQs, supplier negotiations, comparative evaluations, purchase orders, and contract execution.
- Evaluate supplier performance on quality, quantity, dispatch reliability, and responsiveness, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Handle commercial and operational issues related to suppliers, transportation, dispatches, and material availability.
- Prepare procurement MIS, market intelligence updates, sourcing reports, and management presentations.
- Coordinate with finance teams for invoice reconciliation, payment follow-ups, and commercial closure of transactions.
