Job Title: Commissioning Mechanical Engineer – Data Centres – ENGLISH NECESSARY!

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in data centre environments to lead the commissioning of critical HVAC and mechanical systems. This role focuses on air and water-side systems , including performance validation of flow rates, air volumes, and system balancing , ensuring all installations meet mission-critical standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead commissioning of mechanical systems across data centre projects
- Commission HVAC systems including CRAH/CRAC units, chillers, AHUs, and cooling infrastructure
- Perform and validate air-side commissioning :
- Airflow measurement (CFM)
- Air changes per hour (ACH)
- Pressurisation and containment performance
- Perform and validate water-side commissioning :
- Chilled water and condenser water flow rates (L/s, m³/h)
- Pump performance and head pressure verification
- System balancing across distribution networks
- Verify thermal performance and cooling capacity against design criteria
- Develop and execute commissioning plans, scripts, and procedures
- Lead system balancing activities (TAB – Testing, Adjusting & Balancing)
- Support and coordinate pre-commissioning, functional testing, and IST
- Witness and manage FAT & SAT for mechanical systems
- Troubleshoot performance issues related to flow, pressure, and temperature stability
- Coordinate with BMS/controls teams for system optimisation and integration
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, ASHRAE guidelines,



and client standards
- Maintain detailed commissioning records, reports, and validation documentation
- Support project handover including O&M; manuals and client training

Requirements

- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ data centre commissioning experience (essential)
- Strong hands-on experience with HVAC systems in mission-critical environments
- Proven experience measuring and validating:
- Air volumes (CFM)
- Water flow rates (L/s, m³/h)
- Pressure differentials and system balancing
- Expertise in air and water-side commissioning
- Experience with chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, AHUs, and cooling towers
- Solid understanding of TAB processes and commissioning methodologies
- Experience with IST, FAT, and SAT
- Familiarity with BMS and control systems integration
- Experience on Tier 1 or large-scale MEP/data centre projects
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Desirable

- Hyperscale data centre experience
- Knowledge of ASHRAE and data centre cooling standards
- Experience with performance optimisation and energy efficiency
- Familiarity with digital commissioning / TAB tools
