The Role
The role of this specialist pharmacy technician post is to work within the NHS Lanarkshire (NHSL) Gastroenterology/Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Pharmacy Team. This pharmacy team works closely with the wider IBD Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), including Gastroenterologists and specialist IBD nurses, to provide high quality, patient-centred pharmaceutical and clinical care to IBD patients in NHSL. As a key member of the IBD MDT,
the pharmacy role contributes to safe and effective medicines use for IBD patients through direct clinical involvement and service co-ordination.
The clinical pharmacy technician will work closely with the existing IBD pharmacy team to provide consistent, efficient and person-focused support for IBD patients receiving advanced therapies. The role will include patient facing clinical activity, support for IBD MDT members, participation in clinics, virtual reviews, and coordinating medicines supply processes (including aseptic and homecare medicines management). They will also have an important role in financial and clinical governance.
