Safebox LLC provides strategic IT leadership, robust security, and operational excellence tailored specifically for mid-market enterprises. We are seeking a L2/L3 Operational Technology (OT) LAN Engineer (English Speaking - remote) to work with our manufacturing client. In this role you will own the network engineering workstream of a North American Operational Technology cyber resilience initiative. Working from survey data and discovery tool output (Claroty or similar) collected onsite, you will evaluate plant network assets, build the IT/OT infrastructure mapping, identify operational and security vulnerabilities in the network design, and design and execute the re-addressing and segmentation plan: IP schemas, VLAN architecture, switch configurations, and cutover runbooks. During implementation windows you drive cutovers remotely while onsite hands perform physical tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate discovery data and site survey output: validate discovered assets, reconcile against as-built reality, and build the logical and physical IT/OT infrastructure mapping
- Identify operational and security vulnerabilities in current network design (flat networks, undocumented paths, single points of failure, unmanaged devices) and contribute to segmentation and optimization recommendations
- Design re-IP plans for Operational Technology equipment: addressing schemes, VLAN design, DHCP/static allocation strategy, and rollback plans
- Produce switch configurations for replacement Operational Technology switching platforms; stage configs for onsite deployment; implement L2/L3 designs aligned to Purdue model zones and conduits
- Support legacy fiber replacement planning: documentation, patching schedules, and cutover coordination executed by onsite vendors
- Execute cutover events remotely during scheduled maintenance windows (including nights, weekends, and holidays), directing onsite smart hands; perform post-cutover validation and remote troubleshooting of industrial
