We currently have a permanent vacancy for a senior midwife to lead on the development and implementation of safe child protection and wellbeing systems in all maternity services within NHS Fife.

You will be responsible for providing professional specialist advice and clinical case supervision to health staff within the maternity services in relation to child protection issues in line with local and national guidance. To work in partnership with multidisciplinary teams to ensure delivery of child focussed outcomes. To offer accessible expert advice and support to individual cases and promote evidence based practice in child protection and to ensure that child protection health services are delivered effectively, efficiently and safely within maternity services. Be able to develop systems to maintain and develop the quality of child protection practice in line with clinical governance and risk assessment frameworks.

You must be an NMC registered midwife, educated to degree level. In addition, you should possess excellent team working skills with effective communication skills.



You must be able to provide leadership, possess the ability to work autonomously and have an in depth knowledge of Child Protection.

We are a dynamic, progressive and friendly team. The unit is modern and progressive with approximately 3200 births per year. The services include outpatient and community services, a complex care Consultant Unit and an alongside Midwife Led Unit. We are developing services in line with Best Start recommendations. We are focussing on increasing our rates of continuity of carer in the first instance. We already have teams established for birth at home, vulnerable in pregnancy, infant nutrition and child protection.
