Position Overview
NurseAmerica is seeking a skilled and compassionate Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-quality outpatient oncology practice. This role is adecuado for nurses with infusion and oncology experience who are passionate about delivering safe, patient-centered cancer care in a collaborative clinical environment.
The Infusion RN provides professional nursing care in accordance with national standards, specialty guidelines, and organizational policies while supporting patients throughout their treatment journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate patient care to ensure continuity and quality outcomes.
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, including medical history, labs, imaging, and psychosocial needs.
- Prepare and administer infusion therapies under physician supervision.
- Administer medications and blood products using proper protocols and safety standards.
- Perform venipuncture; access and maintain implanted ports and central venous devices.
- Monitor patient response to treatment and collaborate with providers on dose adjustments and symptom management.
- Provide patient and family education, counseling, and psychosocial support.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and charge capture.
- Ensure all pre-authorizations and consents are obtained prior to treatment.
- Manage patient flow, scheduling, triage calls, and follow-up care.
- Assist physicians with exams and procedures.
- Follow OSHA,
infection control, and hazardous material handling guidelines.
- Maintain treatment areas, supplies, and equipment per quality standards.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to LPNs, medical assistants, and less experienced nurses.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and clinical research as applicable.
- Participate in ongoing oncology education and professional development.
Infusion‑Specific Responsibilities
- Program and manage ambulatory infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery.
- Educate patients and caregivers on home infusion pump use.
- Clean, maintain, and document infusion pump usage.
- Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Provider Card preferred.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland.
- Current BLS certification.
- 3–5 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in oncology preferred.
- Infusion nursing experience strongly preferred.
- Oncology certification preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Outpatient oncology/hematology clinic setting.
- Possible exposure to radiation, cytotoxic agents, and communicable diseases.
- Prolonged standing and walking.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Manual dexterity and visual/hearing acuity required.
